Groom Your Golden Doodle: A Step-by-Step Guide with furMe

Golden Doodles are a popular and beloved crossbreed, known for their soft, curly, and often low-shedding or completely hypo-allergenic coats. Depending on the specific crossbreed DNA, the coat of a Golden Doodle can vary from straight to curly, from thick to wavy, and from short to long. Before starting any grooming routine, it's important to understand the specific coat type of your Golden Doodle and consult with your veterinarian to determine the best grooming techniques and tools to use. In this blog post, we'll discuss how to clip the coat of a Golden Doodle using the furMe grooming vacuum and AirClipper electric clipper attachment. With the right tools and techniques, you can keep your Golden Doodle looking and feeling its best.

Step 1: Bathe/Prepare Your Dog

If necessary, give your Golden Doodle a bath to remove any dirt, oils, or tangles that may make it harder to clip the coat evenly. Whether or not you should bathe your Golden Doodle before clipping depends on the specific dog and the type of coat it has. Generally, it's best to clip a clean and dry coat, as this will reduce the chances of the clippers getting clogged or dulled by dirt and oils. Before using the furMe grooming vacuum, it's important to make sure your Golden Doodle's coat is completely dry.

Step 2: Choose the Right Clipper Length

The furMe AirClipper electric clippers include a size 10 blade that is 1.0mm, Your AirClipper has 2 other adjustable settings on the device to switch between 1.0mm, 1.2mm, and 1.6mm lengths. The furMe grooming vacuum also comes with 4 optional clipper guards in 6mm, 12mm, 18mm, and 24mm length, so you can choose the one that best suits your grooming needs.

For a Golden Doodle, you'll want to set the blade length to 1.0mm using the black adjuster on the front of the AirClipper and we recommend using the 12mm clipper guard.

Step 3: Begin Clipping

Starting at the neck, use the furMe AirClipper to clip the coat in the direction of growth, following the natural lines of the dog's body. Move slowly and steadily, being careful not to clip too close to the skin or to leave any tufts of hair behind. Your AirClipper will vacuum up the loose hair as you go!

Step 4: Finish Up

When you've finished clipping, use a comb or brush to remove any loose hair or tangles, and check your dog's coat for any missed spots. Trim any stray hairs or tufts with scissors or your AirClipper on a shorter length setting. And finally, give your Golden Doodle a good rub down to remove any loose hair and stimulate the skin.

With the right tools and techniques, you can keep your Golden Doodle looking and feeling its best. The furMe grooming vacuum is an excellent tool for clipping the coat of a Golden Doodle, and its adjustable settings and optional clipper guards make it easy to achieve the desired length and style.

Note: Before you start any grooming routine, it's always best to check with your veterinarian to determine the best approach based on your dog's specific needs and coat type.
